The Resilient Missionary

The Resilient Missionary

Dr. Yohannes Mengsteab became a communist soldier in Eritrea. Wounded in battle he escaped to Sudan where Swedish Lutheran missionaries brought him into their mission and made him an evangelist. They helped him immigrate to America, where he graduated from Concordia College, New York and then the St. Louis Seminary. He began ministry as a missionary in the Southeastern District where he began six new missions among Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants. Today he is a mission executive in the Texas District.
